TOPSHOP Splash

This virtual waterslide was built as part of TOPSHOP’s 2017 Swimwear campaign, and built to mimic the real slides installed in their Oxford Street flagship store. The virtual reality slide was experienced by approximately 4000 people in store, resulting in a 100% increase in sales over the previous year. It was featured in two million Instagram stories and over 3000 photos with the hashtag #TOPSHOPSLASH.

The project had an incredibly short turn around time. We had just 3 weeks to storyboard and produce the experience. Because of this, a realtime engine like Unreal 4 was the obvious choice over a rendered, spherical video solution. What we potentially lost in image quality, we made back in terms of iteration. It allowed us to tweak the experience until the last moment and ensure the client was completely satisfied. It also meant the speed of the experience could be adjusted individually for each user’s comfort.
