Back to Health

I produced this Virtual Reality demonstration tool for Back to Health, a chiropractors firm based in West London, as part of their re-branding efforts in 2016. They were looking to demonstrate to patients the spinal issues that had been diagnosed, but in a more engaging way then anatomical models and X-rays. I built a system that allowed the patient to enter Virtual Reality while the Chiropractor would use a control panel to manipulate a life size model of a human spine being shown to the patient.

The end result was an incredibly immersive experience for the patient. They could walk all the way around the spine and observe it from any angle they chose. The chiropractor, meanwhile, could explain the issues the patient was facing in great detail. The spine’s shape could be altered to match the patient’s, vertebrae could be highlighted to draw attention to specific problems and an example of a correct spine could be brought into the space for comparison.

The experience resulted in an increase in not only sales, but also in patients completing their prescribed exercises. Back to Health reported a 98% drop in buyers remorse, and an 82% uplift in patients sticking to their prescribed exercise plan when the system was rolled out to their six locations.
